About Clarke Jacksonville
Located in Duval County, FL Clarke Jacksonville provides services to children from ages birth through the early elementary school levels. All aspects of the child are considered in Clarke Jacksonville's curriculum including social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth in addition to listening, speech and language skills.Clarke Jacksonville is a private, non-profit educational program devoted to teaching deaf and hard-of-hearing children to listen and talk. The school opened in 1996 in response to the growing need for oral deaf education in Jacksonville, FL and the surrounding area. In 2004, Clarke Jacksonville Auditory/Oral Center was accredited by the Florida Kindergarten Council, a member of the Florida Association of Academic Non-Public Schools. Currently, more than 40 children with hearing loss are benefiting from our program that focuses on the development of listening, thinking, and conversational skills. Our families come from throughout Florida and southern Georgia and Mississippi for services.Clarke Jacksonville provides early intervention services, toddler, preschool and kindergarten classes, a primary class, mainstreaming services and cochlear implant rehabilitation. Our students use cochlear implants, hearing aids, and FM systems. About our StaffClarke Jacksonville is led by director Susan G. Allen and her expert staff of teachers of the deaf and speech-language pathologists, all who have Masters degrees in their related field. The staff also includes an Early Intervention Specialist, teacher's aides, clinical fellowship speech language pathologists, interns, an assistant to the director and an office manager. The teaching staff at Clarke Jacksonville is highly competent in the areas of cognition, language, speech and listening skill development, in addition to child development and deaf education.
