Clarke Northampton

Drama Club

Clarke has a long tradition of encouraging students to stand up and be heard. That tradition has carried over into the performing arts realm with the inception of Drama Club. Drama Club enhances many different areas of the students' education. Speech and language skills are targeted as the students practice pronouncing new words and unfamiliar sentence structures. On top of all of those things, they are gaining confidence in using their speech and language skills in front of a large audience.

With the advent of new technology, the children are able to do much more than they could several years ago. Now, some students choose to sing their own songs instead of lip-syncing and all of the kids join in the dancing. Approximately 300 people attend the performance each year.

Whoever auditions for drama club gets a part in the play. For the students who don't want to perform on stage, there is plenty of work to be done behind the scenes. Just about every middle schooler gets involved in and over 30 staff members help in some way to make this a successful event for the Clarke family.
