About the Mainstream Center

The Mainstream Center"Clarke helped me prepare for my new school by teaching me the main things in life. My Clarke experience taught me to never give up."

The Mainstream Center, a division of Clarke, was established in 1977 as a resource on educating students with hearing loss. We work on behalf of students who have attended Clarke as well as those who have not. We offer everyone in the mainstreaming effort our belief in the value of this educational approach for students who are ready, the benefit of our experience with hundreds of mainstreamed students and our judgment based on that experience. We see our work as listening, helping, educating, guiding, observing, talking, suggesting and troubleshooting.

Our consulting services are provided under contract to schools and can include a wide range of services, from program planning, staff orientations and teacher consultations to adjustment counseling and more. We also provide training workshops around the country in hearing loss and oral transliterating, market educational products, and publish a newsletter on mainstreaming. Our annual two-day conference each October continues to grow and now offers sessions for teens in addition to parents and professionals. All of this activity attempts to make mainstreaming more successful.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of mainstreaming further, please feel free to contact us.
