Masquerade Ball "Unmask the Possibilities"
Clarke Jacksonville Auditory/Oral Center "where deaf and hard-of-hearing children learn to listen and talk" has announced the theme of their annual Celebration of Sound event. This year, the Celebration of Sound will take on the spirit of Mardi Gras by featuring a masquerade ball where guests will dress in creative black tie attire.
The Celebration of Sound Masquerade Ball "Unmask the Possibilities" is scheduled for Saturday, February 9, 2008, 6:30p.m.-10:30p.m., at the Garden Club of Jacksonville. The event features a silent auction, food, spirits, dancing and entertainment by the Clarke children. The event directly supports the scholarship fund for children of Clarke Jacksonville Auditory/Oral Center. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale in November 2007 and will cost $75/per person.
Founded in 1996 in response to the growing need for auditory/oral deaf education in Jacksonville, Florida, and the surrounding area, Clarke Jacksonville is one of five campuses of Clarke School for the Deaf -- Center for Oral Education in Northampton, MA. Clarke School is an international leader in teaching speech, language and academic skills to children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing and assisting families and training professionals to work with them. More than 500 children and their families benefit each year from our five schools and educational and support programs. Clarke School impacts the lives of more than 10,000 children and adults annually through our research, curriculum development and through teachers and professionals trained at Clarke. We are grateful for the support of friends who are helping deaf children reach their full potential.
