Meet Ms.Scanlon! Name: Ms. Elise Scanlon (MED, Graduate Student)
Where did you grow up? I grew up in Haverhill, MA
Where did you go to school? I went to Haverhill High School, then Westfield State College (for one year), and this past May I graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. I am currently enrolled in the Smith/Clarke Graduate Teacher Education Program.
What are your hobbies? My favorite hobby is to sew. Usually I will sew pillowcases by hand.
What is your favorite book? Red Fish Blue Fish One Fish Two Fish and If you Give a Mouse a Cookie
Why do you want to be a teacher of the deaf? I want to be a teacher of the deaf because it fits my life so perfectly! I love teaching kids, I love speech, and I love audiology. Thankfully I found a job that lets me do all three.
Why did you come to Clarke to study to be a teacher of the deaf? I came to Clarke last year as an intern in the audiology department. After some time observing, I decided that I wanted more interaction with the children, and after talking with some of the teachers here I decided that I would look into the Clarke program. Turns out it was a perfect match!
What do you like most about Clarke? The thing I like most about Clarke is the people. The students are all amazing, and the staff here is so warm and welcoming.
What is your favorite meal in the Clarke School dining hall? The open-faced turkey sandwich! aaa
